An area facing the Atlas
The Ourika road leads towards the valley of the same name and its waterfalls, through a more rugged landscape than the Palmeraie. Properties here are large, often secluded, with views over the Atlas foothills — snow-capped from December to March in some years. This is an area that favours scenery and silence over neighbourhood life.
Distances and access
- Marrakech-Ménara Airport: about 35 minutes
- The medina: about 30 minutes
- Amelkis and Al Maaden golf courses: about 25 minutes
- Guéliz: about 25 minutes
Journeys are longer than from the Palmeraie or Guéliz — worth planning for late arrivals or frequent trips into town.
Who this area suits
Yoga and wellness retreats after silence and a natural setting; extended families or groups of friends staying several days without going out much; photo or film shoots after light and varied backdrops. Less suited to a short stay built around the medina or evenings in town.

When to stay
Autumn and spring give the best views of the Atlas, often snow-capped, with pleasant daytime temperatures. Summer is warmer than in town and calls for a villa with good air conditioning or a pool; winter evenings are cool, so check the heating in the living areas before booking.

We visit every villa before listing it, paying particular attention to the wifi connection and heating, more variable in this outlying area. House staff are employed directly by us, and we arrange airport transfers allowing for the extra travel time.
Getting around once you're there
A hire car or a driver at your disposal makes trips to Guéliz or the medina easier, less frequent in this area than in the Palmeraie. Many of our guests book a driver for the whole stay rather than trip by trip.

How far in advance should I book?
Allow 6 to 24 months for a group wellness retreat, and 1 to 3 months for a standard family stay, depending on the size of villa you need. Get in touch early if you're aiming for a high-season date, as availability narrows fast.
Is wifi reliable in this area?
It varies from villa to villa: we test the connection during our visits and note it on each villa's page. A backup router can be added on request if your stay needs a stable connection.
Can yoga classes or massages be arranged on site?
Yes, these are offered through our concierge service, best booked a few days ahead depending on availability. Allow a few days' notice depending on the availability of the practitioner or teacher chosen.
Is an Atlas view guaranteed from every villa?
No, it depends on orientation and floor level. Mention this in your request and we'll point you to the villas that have it. We can put together a shortlist of villas with a confirmed view if this matters to you.
Do I need a car to stay in this area?
Yes, there are no shops nearby. We recommend a driver at your disposal or a hire car for the length of your stay. A driver at your disposal removes this constraint and makes trips to Guéliz or the medina easier.
